Job Coaching Classes

This class is designed to improve resume-building, cover letter constructions, and interviewing skills.  It offers many helpful hints to obtaining a job in today's market.  Classes are open to everyone.

Gluten/Allergy Free Cooking  

Want to learn how to cook and bake gluten and allergy free foods? Attend one of our workshops where you will learn how to prepare a variety of different foods from proven simple and easy recipes. Class size is limited, and reservations are required to attend. Call (616) 885-9919 to reserve your spot. All workshops start at 6:30 PM at the Family Network.

Although leftovers aren't always your kids' favorite, they are a great way to save money on food.  Our food preservation classes will teach you how to properly store and save your leftover food so you can enjoy it later.

Lunch and Learn 

Each month MSU presents a nutrition topic to members of the community that serve food stamp eligible individuals. This series is meant to be a "train the trainer" session, designed for those who want to share sound nutrition information with their clients.

All sessions start at 12:30 p.m. at Family Network (1029 44th st. SW Wyoming)

Budget Classes

Learn how to manage your money GOD's way.

This is an accelerated two-session class, one evening a week for about ninety minutes each. The first week you will be gathering information and learning where to plug it into a beginning budget. The second week will teach you how to tweaking your spending habits, learn the tricks and traps of budgeting, creating a basic get out of debt plan, and answering your questions.

 

WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS

1. A list of your bills
Things like utilities, rent/mortgage payments, food, insurance, trash, phone, gasoline, childcare, entertainment, cable, laundry, prescriptions, and gifts.
You can download a 'Monthly Income and Expenses' form at www.crown.org, click on the 'Financial and Career Tools' tab, then scroll down to 'Financial Forms & Downloads' arrow.

2. A list of your loans
Personal loans, credit cards, school loans, car loans, home improvement loans.
Download the 'Debt list' form

3. A list of other bills
Things that are paid once or twice a year like car or life insurance & license fees.

4. A list of your income
The last few pay stubs will come in handy.

5. Start tracking your spending
Using the '30 Day Diary'. List everything that spend money on. Write down the date and amount you spent no matter how big or small.

To gain a more in depth knowledge about budget spending plans and how to get off of the credit marry-go-round, I suggest you read "The Financial Planning Workbook" by Larry Burkett; or "Financial Peace" by Dave Ramsey.
